Rejected petition: Transportation To Education

Rejected on

We believe students should have free bus and train travel to college. Transport costs can be expensive and may stop people from continuing their education. Free travel would remove this barrier, giving everyone a fairer chance to study, gain qualifications and improve their future opportunities.

This petition calls for free bus and train travel for students travelling to college or other educational settings. Transport costs can be a significant barrier, especially for those from low-income families. Free travel would make education more accessible, reduce financial pressure and give everyone a fairer opportunity to gain qualifications and improve their future.
Over five years UK rail fares rose by about 24%, while bus fares also increased, adding to the cost of travelling to education.
