Rejected petition: Reverse the new Vaping Products Duty on e-liquids

Rejected on

Reverse the Vaping Products Duty introduced on 1 October 2026. We believe the £2.20 duty per 10ml of e-liquid places a disproportionate cost on adult vapers, including former smokers, and may discourage people from choosing vaping instead of smoking.

The duty is £2.20 per 10ml of e-liquid. Someone buying ten 10ml bottles a month therefore incurs £22 in duty alone. For low-cost e-liquids, this can represent a very large price increase. The Government says it wants to deter young people and non-smokers while maintaining a financial incentive for smokers to switch. We are concerned this level of duty may undermine that aim for adult smokers and former smokers.
