Rejected petition: Give employees a statutory right to paid time off for fertility treatment

Rejected on

Give employees a statutory right to paid time off for fertility treatment.

We want the Government to give employees undergoing IVF and fertility treatment a statutory right to paid time off for necessary appointments, scans and procedures.

Currently, employees have no specific right to paid time off for IVF, while pregnant employees have a statutory right to paid time off for antenatal appointments.

Fertility treatment can involve frequent appointments, often at short notice. People should not have to choose between accessing treatment and losing pay or annual leave.
