Rejected petition: Make Statutory Sick Pay Fairer and Reflect the Real Cost of Living

Rejected on

Call on the UK Government to reform Statutory Sick Pay .
better reflects the real cost of living. Nobody should have to choose between recovering from illness and being able to afford food, rent and essential bills. We deserve a sick that is 80% for full time jobs

I think it's not fair that people with full time jobs that are committed to work and pay tax are subject to £ 123.25 a month and people with part time jobs are allowed to get 80% of their salary.
We might at provide protection for full time jobs like European countries where social care and employers hat provides 80% of employees that face illness for surgeries that will not allow to work for weeks .
That is not fair as this full time jobs are the ones that hel social care in this country

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. For both full time and part-time employees there is an entitlement of either £123.25 or 80%, whichever is lowest. You can find more information about statutory sick pay here: https://www.gov.uk/statutory-sick-pay

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
