Rejected petition: Introduce National Standards and Practical Assessments for Tattoo Artists
Rejected on
I want the Government to introduce mandatory artistic and practical competency tests for tattoo artists before they can be licensed. Current requirements focus only on hygiene. Tattoo artists should demonstrate drawing skills, design knowledge and safe practice before tattooing the public.
The petition aims to establish tattooing as a recognised skilled profession, with clear entry standards and accountability. It would encourage quality apprenticeships, prevent the exploitation of aspiring artists through inadequate training, and help preserve the integrity of the industry. Experienced artists should help shape these standards to ensure they are fair, practical and focused on genuine competence rather than artistic style or personal preference.
