Rejected petition Force airline companies to refund money for cancelled flights.

Rejected on

Airlines are creating barriers to customers who are trying to reclaim money for cancelled flights. There needs to be legal pressure placed on the airlines to reimburse customers. Airlines are hiding behind the fact that they have issued vouchers and therefore not obliged to refund money.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Arrangements for refunding, changing or rebooking travel are a civil matter between individual travellers and airlines or travel agents, not the Government or Parliament.

The Civil Aviation Authority, which regulates the UK aviation industry, has provided guidance on passenger rights and how to make a claim: https://www.caa.co.uk/Passengers/Resolving-Travel-Problems/Delays-and-cancellations/
