Rejected petition: Establish a uk emergency alert system for missing children.

Rejected on

Establish a UK-wide emergency phone alert system for missing children, allowing police to send location-based alerts when a child is at serious risk. The system should apply to ALL children, regardless of whether they are autistic, disabled, vulnerable or not. Every second counts when missing.

When a child goes missing, the first few hours can be critical. Members of the public may be able to recognise a child or provide vital information, but many people may never know they are missing. Emergency alerts could quickly reach people nearby, giving more people the chance to spot a child and contact police. Existing emergency alerts already show this technology can reach people quickly. I believe missing children deserve the same urgency. Every second matters, and every child matters.
